When an Appraisal May Be Necessary

Professional horse appraisals are essential for various critical situations. You might require an appraisal for:

SALES, PURCHASES, AND SYNDICATIONS
Determining fair market value for transactions.

DONATIONS OR IRS PURPOSES
Ensuring compliance for charitable contributions. The IRS mandates an appraisal for donated horses valued over $5,000, and our reports fully comply with all IRS regulations.

DIVORCE OR BANKRUPTCY DISPOSITIONS

Facilitating equitable distribution or asset assessment.

INSURANCE NEEDS
Establishing insurable value for coverage.

ESTATE PLANNING OR FORCED LIQUIDATIONS
Valuing assets for estate settlement or expedited sales.

Overview

We offer three distinct appraisal report types, each tailored to specific needs and legal requirements. Listed below are reports representing a single horse. For reports including multiple horses, an additional fee applies per horse. Please note that additional travel expenses, or on-site evaluation fees may apply if an in-person assessment is requested/required.

Appraisal Report Types

Summary Appraisal
Our most frequently requested appraisal, the Summary Appraisal, is commonly utilized for insurance and donation purposes, and is accepted by the IRS. This report offers more detail than the Restricted Use Appraisal but is not intended for situations likely to result in litigation or court appearances.

Restricted Use Appraisal
This report is designed for an owner or breeder seeking to determine a horse's value for private sale or liquidation purposes. It provides a concise valuation and is not intended for court proceedings or IRS submissions.

Self-Contained Appraisal
The Self-Contained Appraisal represents our most comprehensive report. This is generally the optimal choice for situations that may involve litigation, such as divorce cases, injury claims, or veterinarian malpractice suits. Should the appraiser be required to appear in court as an expert witness or provide litigation assistance in meetings, additional fees will apply.
